Eighty-Seven Point Six

The season’s widest margin, its lowest score and its lowest-scoring week arrived together. Tim started two players listed Out and finished with 42.6. Jonathan left 82.98 points on his bench and won by 4.4. Three managers reached round numbers, and John E. reached one. Marcus Tally on Week 6.

Nick beat Tim 130.20 to 42.60, a margin of 87.60 that is the widest of the season, past Owen’s 86.24 over Nick two weeks ago. Tim’s 42.60 is the lowest total by any team this year — the previous low was Anthony’s 61.54 in Week 3 — and it was assembled deliberately: Lamar Jackson, listed Out with an ankle injury, started and scored 0.0; Quinshon Judkins, listed Out with a foot injury, started and scored 0.0; Brian Thomas scored 0.0; Nick Folk, signed Thursday night, scored 1.0. Tanner McKee, also signed Thursday night, scored 9.6 on the bench behind the quarterback who did not play, and Tyler Huntley, released to make room for Folk, had given Tim 21.04 the week before. Sleeper projected Tim’s lineup at 62.84, the lowest projection any team has carried into a week this season; he fell 20.24 short of it. Nick, who had no quarterback on his roster who played when Thursday began, signed Michael Penix and got 17.1, and got 30.7 from Christian McCaffrey and 23.0 from D’Andre Swift on top of it. He also left DeVonta Smith’s 20.5 on the bench and started Darren Waller, signed Sunday morning, for 0.0. He is 2-4; the series is 10-6.

Jonathan 88.90, Jeff 84.50. The 4-1 game was decided by 4.40 and by Jayden Daniels, who scored 17.0 on Monday night against a 16.51 deficit. Jonathan won it with 82.98 points on his bench, the most any team has left unused this season — his own 70.3 from Week 2 was the previous high — and Germie Bernard, the receiver he won on waivers Thursday, accounted for 25.7 of it, C.J. Stroud 22.98, Stefon Diggs 16.4, Roschon Johnson 14.5. Cam Skattebo started and scored 0.0; Denzel Boston scored 2.5 in the flex. Jeff got 5.0 from Derrick Henry, 12.78 under his projection, and 9.4 from Christian Watson, 9.02 under; his lineup was projected at 122.58, the second-highest in the league, and produced 84.50. Jonathan is 5-1 with his 110th regular-season win and leads the series 13-5.

John E. 109.76, Michael 75.08. Michael left all three of his bye-week starters in the lineup — Jameson Williams, Will Reichard and the Vikings defense, 0.0 apiece — one week after winning with two, and left Tre Tucker’s 26.7 and Keenan Allen’s 16.2 on the bench, 42.9 points against a 34.68 margin. Davante Adams, projected at zero and now listed Out with a knee injury, played and scored 6.9. Tyler Shough scored 26.96 for John E., 13.62 over his projection, the week’s second-largest beat by any starter; Trevor Lawrence scored 27.34 on John E.’s bench. John E. is 1-5. He leads the series 17-5.

The week

Fourteen teams scored 1,314.66 points, an average of 93.90 — the lowest week of the season by 9.42, under Week 2’s 103.32 — and the first week in which a team finished under 50. Two of the seven winners scored under 90: John P. with 76.44, the second-lowest winning score of the year behind Tim’s 68.30 in Week 2, and Jonathan with 88.90. Nick’s 130.20 was the high.

The series is 13-9 Anthony; Josh is 1-5.

John P. 76.44, Owen 71.52. Javonte Williams needed 12.93 more in the Sunday night game for Owen and got 8.0. Owen started Jacoby Brissett (6.92) with Jalen Hurts on injured reserve and left DeMario Douglas, claimed Thursday, on the bench for 19.6 — 42.6 bench points in all against a 4.92 margin. Jaylin Noel, signed Friday, scored 20.7 for John P., 15.23 over his projection, the week’s largest beat; Kirk Cousins scored 18.52 on the bench behind Bryce Young’s 17.84. John P. is 3-3 and leads the series 12-4.

mike 114.88, Kevin 73.78. Kevin left Jake Bates in on the Lions’ bye for 0.0, and Bo Nix scored 2.48. mike, one week removed from 187.72, got 24.7 from Bhayshul Tuten and 23.9 from Isaiah Likely and is 3-3; Kevin is 3-3 and leads the series 11-10. Kevin has now finished under his projection in five of six weeks and 66.18 below it for the season, the most in the league.

Records and streaks

Nick’s 87.60 margin is the season’s widest; Tim’s 42.60 the season’s low; the week’s 93.90 average the season’s low; Jonathan’s 82.98 bench total the season’s high. Timothy–Sean is level at 12-12. Michael has started five bye-week players in two weeks and is 1-1 in those games.

Projections and injuries

Sleeper’s projected favorite went 4-3, and is 26-16 for the season. The four largest team-level misses all lost: Jeff (38.08 under), Sean (37.70 under), Owen (30.27 under) and Kevin (28.22 under); the four largest team-level beats all won except Josh (16.65 over, lost to Anthony’s 16.41 over). Among starters, the week’s largest beats were Jaylin Noel (+15.23), Tyler Shough (+13.62), Malik Nabers (+13.59) and Bhayshul Tuten (+11.60); the largest misses were Bijan Robinson (−17.74), Derrick Henry (−12.78), Rhamondre Stevenson (−11.24) and Kyren Williams (−11.05). Six starters carried projections of zero into the week — Michael’s three bye-week players, Kevin’s Jake Bates, and Tim’s Lamar Jackson and Quinshon Judkins — and scored zero. For Sunday: Mike Evans (Anthony, Achilles) and Davante Adams (Michael, knee) are listed Out after playing this week; Romeo Doubs (Jeff) has gone to injured reserve with a shoulder injury after scoring 11.2; Ladd McConkey (Josh, concussion), Tyler Warren (Nick, groin), Saquon Barkley (Timothy, hamstring), DJ Moore (John E., shoulder) and Jordan Addison (Kevin, hamstring) are Out; Jalen Hurts (Owen) and Jacory Croskey-Merritt (Josh) are on injured reserve. Tim’s roster now lists four running backs and a quarterback as Out or on injured reserve.

Transactions

Twenty-one moves since last Tuesday, none of them trades. At the Thursday waiver run John E. won Kimani Vidal, Jonathan won Germie Bernard over claims from mike, Owen and John E., mike won the Colts defense, Kendrick Bourne, Dameon Pierce and Jaleel McLaughlin, Anthony won Tyler Loop and Owen won DeMario Douglas; six of John E.’s seven claims failed, four because his roster was full, and he signed the Ravens defense as a free agent a minute after the run. The free-agent market then supplied most of Sunday’s quarterbacks: Josh signed Aaron Rodgers (11.02), Nick signed Michael Penix (17.1), Owen signed Jacoby Brissett (6.92), Tim signed Tanner McKee and did not start him, and Timothy signed Cam Ward and did not start him. Nick released Kyler Murray on Sunday morning to sign Darren Waller.
