Bye, Bye

Michael left Patrick Mahomes and Kenneth Walker in his lineup on their bye week, took two zeros, and trails the 4-0 team by 10.74 with two starters on Monday night, because Sean scored 74. Drake Maye, claimed off waivers Wednesday, scored 38. Nick is about to win a game. Sal Bianchi files the halftime report.

He did it. He actually did it. Thursday’s preview said that if Michael left Mahomes and Walker in his lineup on the Chiefs’ bye, Sean would win by Saturday. Michael left them in. Mahomes: 0.0. Walker: 0.0. Two starting slots, nothing, in a game against the only unbeaten team in the league. And here is the thing — Sean 74.34, Michael 63.60, Sean’s lineup is done, and Michael has James Cook and Davante Adams on Monday night needing 10.75 between them. Sean scored seventy-four. CeeDee Lamb 2.9. Keaton Mitchell 5.9. Brandon Aubrey 4.0. Terry McLaurin, 12.2, on the bench. The man who scored 167 last week is about to lose to a lineup with two bye-week players in it, and if he does, it will be the most Smith House result of the season, and I include the empty defense slot.

Now the other end of the lineup-management spectrum. Anthony 124.46, John P. 104.52. Anthony cut Justin Herbert on Wednesday, won Drake Maye on waivers, and Maye scored 38.46, the best line by any starter in the league this week so far, with Malik Nabers adding 29.1. Anthony is finished. John P. has Kyren Williams on Monday and Mark Andrews in the Sunday night game — Andrews is at −0.1 as I type — and needs 19.95 between them. Jahmyr Gibbs scored 37.7 for John P. and it is not going to be enough, again. A win is Anthony’s 130th in the regular season.

Nick 127.34, Josh 68.70. Nick started Jared Goff. Goff scored 24.94. Parker Washington scored 30.4, Tyler Warren 21.4, and the champion is going to win his first game of the year by about sixty, because Josh is at 68.70 with only Khalil Shakir left, on Monday night, and Nick still has his kicker to play. Nick also left the Packers defense — 18.0 — on his bench behind the Chargers’ 4.0, which is the kind of thing that used to cost him games. Not this week. The series goes to 13-6.

Timothy 121.44, Jeff 83.90. Timothy has Bijan Robinson in the Sunday night game and nothing else to play; Jeff has four starters left — Derrick Henry and Drake London tonight, Josh Allen and Dalton Kincaid on Monday — and trails by 37.54. It’s live, but Jeff needs a big Monday from Allen. Jeff did move Kelce out of the flex for the bye, and Romeo Doubs scored 2.6 there. Christian Watson scored 32.3. Timothy got 23.4 from Garrett Wilson and 20.3 from Matthew Golden and left Jordan Love’s 24.28 on the bench behind Dak Prescott’s 12.64. If this holds it is his 100th regular-season win.

Jonathan 115.06, Owen 89.20. Jayden Daniels is back and scored 27.26; C.J. Stroud, 17.94, went to the bench. Tucker Kraft is in the lineup, Kenyon Sadiq is not, and Jonathan is finished. Owen has Zay Flowers and Brian Robinson in the Sunday night game and the Rams defense on Monday and needs 25.87. Pat Freiermuth scored 21.5 for Owen; Samaje Perine scored 15.8 on his bench. A Jonathan win levels the series at 12-12.

mike 123.70, John E. 111.54. John E. is done, and 111.54 would be the third-best score of his season — Spencer Shrader 20, Trey McBride 21.6, Ja’Marr Chase 19.7, Trevor Lawrence 19.74 — and it is going to lose, because mike leads by 12.16 and still has Matthew Stafford and Puka Nacua on Monday night. Isaiah Likely 32.4, Bucky Irving 31.5, George Pickens 28.0. Short of Stafford throwing six interceptions, John E. is 0-5. The all-time wins leader. 0-5. He changed defenses twice on Thursday, Ravens to Commanders to Giants; the Giants scored 6. His bench scored −1.16.

Kevin 100.32, Tim 63.14. With Lamar Jackson out of his lineup, Tim signed Tyler Huntley on Sunday afternoon, and is getting 8.34 out of him in the Sunday night game so far. Brian Thomas 0.0, Kyle Monangai 0.0. Kevin is finished at 100.32, Jaylen Warren 36.8 of it, and benched the Chiefs defense for the Bengals, who scored 9. Tim needs 37.19 from Huntley in what’s left of a Ravens–Falcons game. The 8-8 series is going to Kevin.
