Week 2 preview · Thursday, September 17 · Detroit at Buffalo tonight — all seven games pending

286.32 Points of 1-0

Anthony’s league-high 145.16 meets Sean’s 141.16 in the Game of the Week. Elsewhere, two managers with identical 106-107 career records draw each other, the only 10-10 series on the slate leaves .500 for good, and mike’s defense slot is empty as of this morning.

Seven games, zero points scored, one Thursday night game that touches eight of the fourteen lineups. Detroit at Buffalo puts early numbers on the board for Jonathan, John P., Nick, Michael, Jeff, John E., Kevin and Tim; eleven starters in all. Week 1 produced 1,651.72 points, 117.98 per team, against a sixteen-year league average of 95.93. Three waiver claims cleared this morning, none for a dollar of FAAB; the budget stands at $100 for all fourteen. Every game below is pending until the last starter on both sides has played.

Game of the Week: Anthony (1-0) vs. Sean (1-0)

Anthony’s 145.16 was the highest score in the league in Week 1 and he needed almost all of it: mike’s 141.60 left the margin at 3.56. Sean’s 141.16 was the fourth-highest score of the week, and his 26.52-point win over the reigning champion was the second-widest margin of the opener behind Jeff’s 42.22. The series is Anthony’s, 13-7 across sixteen seasons, and he brings the most valuable lineup on the slate: 31,186 by FantasyCalc price against Sean’s 25,178. No starter on either side carries an injury designation as of Thursday morning. Anthony’s bench holds two Questionables, RJ Harvey and Jakobi Meyers; Sean’s holds an Out, De’Zhaun Stribling, and Josh Jacobs, listed NA. Neither team has a player in tonight’s game, so this one does not begin to resolve until Sunday.

Jonathan (1-0) vs. John P. (0-1)

Layer Week 1 onto the sixteen-year book and both managers stand at exactly 106-107 in the regular season. The winner goes to 107-107; the loser drops to 106-108. John P. leads the series 10-8. Jonathan’s 135.46 was the fifth-highest score of Week 1 and ended a six-game losing streak against John E.; John P.’s 96.62 lost to Kevin by 0.42, the narrowest margin of the week. Tonight matters here more than anywhere else on the slate: Jonathan starts Amon-Ra St. Brown, John P. starts Jahmyr Gibbs and Sam LaPorta, all three in Detroit’s lineup at Buffalo. No starter on either side is flagged. Dylan Sampson (IR) sits on Jonathan’s bench, Jordan Mason (IR) on John P.’s.

John E. (0-1) vs. Kevin (1-0)

The only even series on the slate, 10-10 through 2025, and it will not be even on Monday. John E. scored 122.60, the sixth-highest total of the week, and lost; Kevin scored 97.04, the third-lowest, and won. Kevin’s starting nine, as set this morning, is priced at 17,553, the lowest of the fourteen lineups; his best legal lineup would be worth 20,418, so 2,865 of value sits on his bench. John E.’s lineup is priced at 28,721. Kevin’s flex, Jalen Coker, is Questionable (ankle), and A.J. Brown remains on his bench on IR; he added Devaughn Vele off waivers at 7:19 this morning. John E. has no starter flagged and swapped Ray Davis for Kaelon Black at 7:24. Two starters play tonight: John E.’s DJ Moore for Buffalo and Kevin’s kicker Jake Bates for Detroit.

Nick (0-1) vs. Michael (0-1)

The four-time champion opened with a 26.52-point loss and now faces the manager he has beaten in 15 of 21 meetings. Michael’s 99.34 lost to Jeff by 42.22, the widest margin of Week 1, and he is starting Baker Mayfield for a second straight week with Patrick Mahomes on the bench. Nick has two starters Questionable, D’Andre Swift (knee) and kicker Eddy Pineiro (illness), plus Kyler Murray Questionable and Isiah Pacheco on IR in reserve. Michael’s starters are clean. Three starters go tonight: Nick’s Jared Goff for Detroit; Michael’s James Cook for Buffalo and Jameson Williams for Detroit.

Owen (1-0) vs. Jeff (1-0)

Jeff leads the series 10-5 and arrives with the week’s widest win, 141.56 to 99.34. Owen’s 116.72 over Josh was the seventh-highest score of the opener. The injury report is Owen’s problem: Nico Collins (hamstring) and Zay Flowers (hamstring), two of his three wide-receiver-eligible starters, are both Questionable, with Tank Dell and Ja’Kobi Lane on IR behind them. Jeff’s starters carry no designation; Sam Darnold (Out) and Tyrone Tracy (Questionable) sit on his bench. Jeff’s Josh Allen and Dalton Kincaid play tonight for Buffalo; none of Owen’s starters do.

Josh (0-1) vs. Timothy (1-0)

Timothy leads 9-4, which makes this Josh’s worst series by winning percentage against any manager in the league, .308. Timothy’s 100.90 over Tim moved his record in season openers to 12-4, the best in the league; Josh’s 104.36 loss to Owen dropped his to 8-8. Career regular-season wins now read Timothy 97, Josh 96; a Josh win ties them. Joe Burrow is Questionable (back) and Ladd McConkey Questionable (chest) for Josh. Timothy’s Michael Pittman is Questionable (foot), and George Kittle is Questionable on his bench. Nobody in this game plays tonight.

mike (0-1) vs. Tim (0-1)

mike’s 141.60 was the second-highest score in the league in Week 1 and lost; it stands seventh on the list of highest losing scores in sixteen seasons. Tim’s 94.56 was the lowest score in the league. Tim leads the series 10-5. Tim’s lineup carries three Questionables, the most on the slate: Brian Thomas (shoulder), Brock Bowers (knee, meniscus) and flex Kyle Monangai (hamstring). mike’s roster has no designation anywhere, but his D/ST slot is empty: a waiver claim processed at 5:57 this morning swapped the Browns defense for the 49ers, and the new unit has not been moved into the lineup. San Francisco plays Sunday, so the slot can still be filled. Tim’s Detroit Lions defense plays tonight; none of mike’s starters do.

Series are sixteen-year head-to-head records including playoffs; none of these seven pairs met in Week 1, so each stands as it did at the draft. “Home” is the first-listed team. Injury designations are Sleeper’s as of Thursday morning, September 17. Lineup values are FantasyCalc redraft (14-team, 1QB, PPR) for the nine starters as set; kickers and defenses carry no market value. No NFL team is on bye in Week 2.
